Best-selling Thriller πŸ“šπŸ“šπŸ“š!!!

Daily Prompt: What’s something you would attempt if you were guaranteed not to fail?

First off, I will point out my issue with the word ‘attempt’ in this prompt.

If I’m guaranteed not to fail, you should be asking me about something I would DO.

It would not be an attempt. It would be a glorious success 😜 (Sorry not sorry. I had to.)

And the winner is … πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

Now that we have that cleared up, we can move on to what I would phenomenally accomplish….

I would write a world-renowned, best-selling, psychological thriller. It would have readers everywhere staying up late to finish ‘just one more’ chapter. Everybody would be posting about my thriller on all the social media book “circuits” (there’s always a new one).

Psychological thrillers are one of my favorite genres to read. But I am 100% sure that I am currently unable to write a good one. Minka Kent, Alex Michaelides, Harlen Coben, Lucy Foley, and others simply have something that I cannot understand at this point in life! Sorry for the question, but, is my brain not twisted enough?

Seriously. I have thought about this so many times and I go through a variety of scenarios in my head. I figure there must be something within a writer’s personality (creativity, crazy, otherworldliness) that allows him or her to produce an excellent thriller. And, right now, either I just don’t have that something or I’m unable to draw it up and use it.

But, if I did…actually, even if I didn’t, since the prompt says I won’t fail 😜 I would write a psychological thriller with a storyline based on a text received early on in the book by the main female character. She’s a 25-year old single woman living in the city of Greenberg. The text simply says “walk faster”.

The woman laughs because she assumes one of her friends is having a little fun. But, in just a few more seconds, she gets another text that says “WALK FASTER! YOU’RE MOVING TOO DAMN SLOW. PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO GET TO WORK!!!!!”

Her heart races as she runs hysterically to her apartment building which is only 30 feet away. Once inside, her phone buzzes with another text. At this point, tears are streaming down her reddened face. But she can’t resist checking the phone.

The text says: “Thank you. Was that so hard?” She scans the lobby of her apartment building, terrified….

Actually, I think I will go write a thriller. Thanks WordPress prompt! πŸ’œ 🀣
